Indian opposition leader briefly detained during Cockroach Janta Party protests

Police in India have briefly detained the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi during protests calling for the resignation of Narendra Modi in solidarity with the youth-led Cockroach movement. Footage showed police holding Gandhi, the leader of India’s Congress party, by his arms and legs as they forcefully removed him after a sit-in outside the prime minister’s house in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. Gandhi was forced into a nearby bus and removed from the area. Chaotic scenes ensued as protesters appeared to try to board the vehicle as it sped away.
