Zidane returns to the game as France head coach, calling it 'a continuation of a dream'

Zinedine Zidane has been named head coach of the French national football team, describing the appointment as "the continuation of a dream." The World Cup-winning midfielder, who scored twice in the 1998 final victory over Brazil, spent five years away from coaching after two highly successful spells at Real Madrid, where he won a treble of Champions League titles in 2018. Zidane succeeds Didier Deschamps, who lifted the World Cup in 2018 but faced criticism over his tactical approach, and says he intends to build a more attacking side.
