Iran diplomacy faces hurdles as economic pressure deepens amid record currency lows

Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi joins live from Tehran, where diplomatic efforts involving Pakistan and Oman are underway amid tensions between Iran and the United States. He says a Pakistani delegation is meeting senior Iranian officials, while Oman’s foreign minister is expected to visit Tehran for talks that include discussions over arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Asadi says deep mistrust between Tehran and Washington, along with disputes over the war and other unresolved issues, continues to complicate prospects for negotiations. He also reports on the mounting economic pressure facing Iranians, with the rial falling to record lows and soaring inflation driving up the cost of essential goods. Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly
