Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the negotiators Donald Trump tasked with resolving the Russia-Ukraine war, are visiting Moscow and Kyiv this weekend, the first time they have travelled to Ukraine since talks began. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly said it was important for the US team to see the country firsthand, telling CBS News in May that Americans "have never been here." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a peaceful settlement cannot be ruled out but that there are no concrete prerequisites for one yet. Russia holds about 20 percent of Ukrainian territory and wants those gains recognised in any deal. Trump had promised to end the war within 24 hours of taking office; a year and a half later, an end remains nowhere in sight. Al Jazeera's Dmitry Medvedenko reports. Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly
