Nepal's Syapru Besi left in ruins as flood search enters its ninth day

Nine days after devastating flash floods struck Nepal's Rasuwa district, the scale of the destruction is visible in the narrow valley near Syapru Besi, where a watermark sits 50 metres above where the river should reach, halfway up the mountainside. Heavy rain has returned, hampering rescue efforts, though search teams continue their work. Helicopters have been landing near a tunnel where the road and a hydro station once stood in the town of Rabici, with rescue teams believed to be searching for three people who may still be trapped in the plant's control room. The focus reflects rescuers' concentration on hydroelectric sites, where control rooms may have offered some people a chance of safety. Al Jazeera's Tony Cheng reports from Syapru Besi, Rasuwa district. Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly
