French students say France funds the army, not schools

Across France, high school students complain of 10‑hour school days, classes of 35 pupils versus a European average of 21, and buildings so unsafe parts are closed. They say the state invests in the military instead of education and accuse the university admissions system of discriminating against suburban graduates.
