One month on, Lebanon reels from deadly Israeli assaults and displacement

Nearly one month after Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel following the assassination of Iran's supreme leader, Israeli strikes have killed hundreds of people in Lebanon and displaced nearly 20 percent of the population. Israel launched a ground offensive and issued forced evacuation orders across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. The Lebanese government declared Hezbollah an illegal organisation and demanded it surrender its weapons. Israel has blown up bridges, cutting off the south from the rest of the country, and says it is creating a buffer zone necessary for its national security.
