Man wins €1m Picasso painting for €100 in charity raffle

Ari Hodara, a 58-year-old software engineer, bought his ticket at the weekend after hearing about the raffle by chance in a restaurant. He found out he had won Head of a Woman, a portrait of Picasso’s muse Dora Maar painted in 1941 when he got a video call from Christie’s auction house in Paris. Organisers of the third '1 Picasso for €100 lottery', in aid of Alzheimer’s research, said they had sold 120,000 tickets and raised more than €12m, of which they used €1m to purchase the painting Paris art enthusiast wins €1m Picasso painting in €100 charity raffle ► theguardian.com
