In southern Lebanon, displaced families are sheltering in schools and universities after fleeing heavy bombardment, with many unable to return home as villages are destroyed or remain unsafe. The conflict has also disrupted education, leaving thousands of children without access to schooling. Despite the extension of the ceasefire, violations and ongoing strikes continue to undermine confidence, while damaged infrastructure and lack of basic services make returns difficult. Meanwhile, Israeli officials see the truce as a temporary measure, with limited expectations for a breakthrough, as political and military challenges—particularly regarding Hezbollah—continue to complicate any path toward a lasting agreement.
