IAEA chief says Iran’s uranium stockpile may still be under rubble

The head of the UN's nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi, says much of Iran's uranium stockpile is likely still buried beneath the rubble of a facility bombed by the United States last year. Speaking at the UN's Nuclear Non-Proliferation Conference, Grossi told Al Jazeera that until IAEA inspectors can verify the site, "we cannot confirm that this is the situation." He added that the material is "close to weapon grade" and that there is "difficulty in accessing" the area. Iran's ambassador to the UN accused the United States of using the conference to distract from its own treaty violations. With ongoing war on Iran and global tensions, expectations for any international agreement from the conference remain low. Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports from the United Nations.
