Myanmar conscription law fuels deadly civil war as recruits flee to Thailand

More than 100,000 people have been killed in Myanmar since a military coup five years ago triggered a civil war. That's according to conflict monitor ACLED. Soldiers forced into the army under a 2024 conscription law are coming to the end of their two years of military service.
